Prior to joining UC San Diego Alumni Affairs in 2008, Sarah worked as a program manager for the San Diego Natural History Museum. Although a Southern California native, Sarah lived for several years on the East Coast. In Washington DC, Sarah worked for the Smithsonian Institution after receiving a bachelor’s degree from George Washington University. While living in Philadelphia, she worked at University of Pennsylvania and earned a master’s degree at University of the Arts.

Kids Included Together, a local San Diego non-profit, is one of the organizations where Sarah enjoys volunteering. Her husband, Roland Zakaria’00 is a UCSD alumnus.
