The UCSD Alumni Association proudly
hosted the 27th Awards for Excellence Gala honoring distinguished
alumni, faculty, and outstanding student leaders and scholars on October
23, 2004. The annual gala is our marquee event dedicated to raising
critical funds for the newly established Alumni Leadership Scholarship. |

The 2003 Awards for Excellence Gala
was a tremendous success. The Tommy Bahama-inspired evening was topped
off with a special Honorary Alumnus award presented to former UCSD
Chancellor and retiring UC President Richard Atkinson. Sally Sherry
'93, a reporter from KGTV-Channel 10, emceeded the award ceremony. |

raised nearly $50,000 for the UCSD National Merit Scholarship Program,
benefiting UCSD’s top undergraduate scholars. Heather Lucas '94,
an award-winning reporter from local KFMB-TV Channel 8, emceed the
award ceremony at the picturesque Birch Aquarium at Scripps. |
