The UCSD Chinese Student and Scholars Alumni Association brings alumni together from Beijing, Hong Kong and other regions to strengthen personal and professional networks. The goals of the association are to create opportunities for UC San Diego-Chinese relations; and support UC San Diego with leadership, philanthropy and service.

Our Beijing Representative

Dr. Junling Sun

Structural Engineering ’ 93

Dr. J. Sun, President and Technical Director of Sun Engineering Consulting International, is an international bridge design master. Dr. Sun received his Ph.D. from UC San Diego, and is registered as a professional engineering in the U.S.A. Dr. Sun is also an honored Professor of Hunan University and South East University in China. He has designed a number of landmark bridges that are serving communities in North America and Asia. He currently resides in Beijing.

James Collison, '97, Muir Mathematics and Political Science EMAIL
After graduating from UCSD, James spent time working in Los Angeles and Melbourne, Australia and is now based in Hong Kong where he practices Intellectual Property Law for a local law firm. James enjoys seeking out athletic events, participating this past year in the Hong Kong marathon and several dragonboat races around Hong Kong Island. Growing up in a military family, James lived in many states across the US and also in Europe before settling down in California. James is also active with the UCLA alumni in Hong Kong.

We’re always looking for new volunteers to participate in our chapters. Our alumni leaders create programs and events to build strong and active UCSD networks in their communities while developing lifelong friendships.

Chapter programs emphasize professional development and networking, continuing education, student outreach, charitable giving, and attending social and cultural events.
