EVENT DETAILS:
Do you care passionately about the environment?
Have you ever wanted to help a poor community in another country? Would you like to help make a difference in a few short hours?
The Coastal Training Program/Tijuana Paver Project is looking for Alumni volunteers to work with Professor Oscar Romo to construct pervious pavers - a mix of gravel and cement that create permeable paving stones. During heavy rains, these pavers slow water flows, prevent excess erosion, and lessen flooding. These frames will be used in the community of Los Laureles in Tijuana, immediately adjacent to the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve.
If you are interested in volunteering to work with Oscar Romo and his students in Tijuana, please sign up here.
*** No experience is necessary and training will be provided.**
The $10 registration fee is collected to pay for the roundtrip bus from the U.S./Mexico border to Los Laureles Canyon.
Please bring your passport to ensure safe passage. Here is the timeline for the day.
