HUDSON FREEZE Ph.D. '76
Hudson Freeze earned his BS in Microbiology from Indiana University where he isolated the first extreme thermophile, Thermus acquaticus, from Yellowstone National Park.
His Ph.D. from the University of California, San Diego focused on Dictyostelium development. Postdoctoral training at UCSD in Neurosciences and Medicine generated a faculty appointment there.
In 1988, he joined the Burnham Institute for Medical Research in La Jolla where he is Professor and Director of the Glycobiology Program. His lab studies Congenital Disorders of Glycosylation, and the molecular basis of protein-losing enteropathy.
Other interests include novel glycosylation-related aspects of inflammation in cancer and inflammatory bowel diseases.
