UCSD
Libraries:
Serving
more students and faculty
than ever before
UCSD Libraries, the largest research library system south of Los
Angeles, recently acquired its three-millionth volume and marked
this significant milestone with community celebrations. While the
campus celebrated this achievement, University Librarian Brian
E.C. Schottlaender noted that as the campus and surrounding science
and technology industries grow, there is an increasing demand for
the Libraries’ collections and services.
Gifts to the UCSD Libraries
help fund initiatives to meet the ever-increasing need for print
and digital library resources that serve students, researchers and
the general public in their ongoing pursuit of inspiration and knowledge.
Through The Campaign for UCSD, gifts at any level have a meaningful
impact on the Libraries’ collections and, ultimately, on the
growing number of scholars who rely on these materials and services.
For example, a gift of $50 allows the Libraries to acquire and process
a volume for the Social Sciences & Humanities Library, and a
gift of $100 can fund a new book in the sciences. For more information
contact Dyanne McIver, director of development for the Libraries,
at (858) 534-8490, or dmciver@ucsd.edu.
