We
think 25 years of treating cancer is something to celebrate. The
Rebecca and John Moores UCSD Cancer Center is using the occasion
to publish three new pamphlets for cancer patients, family members
and friends of someone with cancer. Each is packed with 25 practical
and common sense tips ranging from: “Give yourself and your
loved one time
to adjust to the diagnosis,” to “Talk about the future.
Hope is very important” to “Allow yourself private time
to do nothing or something important to you.”
The center, which was launched 25 years ago at UCSD Medical Center
(then called University Hospital) in Hillcrest with four patient
examination rooms, one doctor’s office and two small administrative
office, will move into a brand new state-of-the-art facility this
spring and summer. Its 270,000 square feet will finally house outpatient
clinical services, research laboratories, clinical trials offices
and cancer prevention and community outreach activities under one
roof.
To request any or all of the free pamphlets, call the Cancer Center
Foundation Office, 858-822-0023, and ask for: When You Have Cancer,
When a Loved One Has Cancer, or Reducing Your Cancer Risk. The pamphlets
