IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Dean’s
Undergraduate Awards for Excellence
In fall 2004, the Division of Physical Sciences in collaboration
with UCSD’s Annual Fund
established the Dean’s Undergraduate Awards for Excellence to recognize undergraduate students in the majors of Chemistry & Biochemistry,
Mathematics and Physics who have demonstrated academic excellence
and promise as researchers. Started in October 2004, the program
provides $1,000 awards to at least 20 outstanding juniors and seniors
each year.
Funding for the first 20 award recipients was
provided entirely by alumni donors. Funding for future awards still
needs to be raised
from alumni, parents, and friends of the university. As the program’s
resources grow year-to-year, an endowment will be established to
ensure the recognition of UCSD Physical Sciences students for generations
to come.
Gifts of any amount can make an impact. To learn more, contact
Carol Spencer at (858) 822-3258 or cspencer@ucsd.edu.
