Can anyone tell us more about this 35-year-old piece of UCSD history?
We found a copy of UCSD Contact on eBay and couldn’t resist.
It lists John Wood as the editor and he asks in his statement of
editorial policy “What is it like to be a student in 1970?
What is the climate of behavior here? Why does this campus have to
be so open to new ideas and, concurrently, open itself to so much
criticism? We will seek
to answer the “why” of issues that concern you as well
as the usual who-what-where-when questions.” The magazine had
a circulation of 12,000 and Lynda Claassen in Mandeville Special
collections tells us they have four issues from volume one (1970)
and one from volume two (1972). Anyone with answers to our own “who-what-where-when” questions
please email me at alumnieditor@ucsd.edu.
