TRITON TIDBITS FROM CAMPUS AND BEYOND

September 2005
Salman Rushdie

Salman Rushdie gained notoriety with his 1989 book Satanic Verses and the consequent death sentence issued by the former Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini. UCSD welcomes the author September 20, when ArtPower! hosts “An Evening With Salman Rushdie,” at 8:00 pm in Mandeville Auditorium. He will discuss his new book Shalimar the Clown. “Not only is Salman Rushdie a masterful writer,” says Martin Wollesen, ArtPower! artistic director, “but he is also a powerful and fearless thinker, who pushes forward our understanding of complex cultural, political and human conditions.”

Seats are $35, or $17.50 for students. For ticket information, call (858) 534-TIXS.
