Jacobs
School: Legacy Walk
The Jacobs School of Engineering’s Legacy Walk is a commemorative
paver program that allows alumni, students, faculty, staff and
community partners to show their support to the school while also
providing funding for priority education and research initiatives.
Legacy Walk is located in the new engineering courtyard formed
by the Powell-Focht Bioengineering Hall, the Computer Science and
Engineering Building, and the California Institute for Telecommunications
and Information Technology. On September 30, the campus will dedicate
the Computer Science and Engineering building, and unveil the newest
sculpture in the Stuart Collection and the more than 400 pavers
that have already been installed on Legacy Walk.
It’s not too late to show
your support for the school. Pavers—which
cost $300, $500, or $5,000 depending on size—are still for
sale and will be installed every six months. To learn more about
Legacy Walk, visit: www.jacobs school.ucsd.edu/LegacyWalk, call:
(858) 534-2329 or email: kbriggs@ucsd.edu. |

CAMPAIGN NEWS

UCSD
Near You
Plans are now under way for next year’s UCSD Near You tour.
The program, which was launched in spring 2005, provides alumni,
parents and friends across the country the opportunity to connect
with and meet campus leaders and prominent faculty. For more information
and future tour dates, visit: www.ucsdnearyou.ucsd.edu.
Recent Gifts
The Division of Arts and Humanities has benefited from the generosity
of many community members who joined together to provide more
than $1 million for two new endowed faculty chairs in Greek History.
The campus recently formed the Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas Endowed
Chair in Ancient Greek History and the Alkiviadis Vassiliadis
Endowed Chair in Byzantine History.
Gerry and Jeannie Ranglas
and Carol
Vassiliadis have each provided leadership gifts to make the
two chairs possible. The campus hopes to soon complete funding
for
a third chair, which will focus on Modern Greek History.
If this
goal is met, UCSD will become one of the first U.S. universities
to have endowed faculty chairs in all three
eras of Greek history.

Through UCSD Chancellor’s
Associates, you can be part of one of the Chancellor’s key
groups of University affiliates while providing unrestricted funds
that allow campus leaders to address emerging opportunities. Chancellor’s
Associates contribute a minimum $1,500 per year, and young alumni
can join for even less—just $500 per year for class years
2001–2005 and $1,000 per year for class years 1997–2000.
For more information on the Chancellor’s Associates, visit: www.chancellorsassociates.ucsd.edu, email: ca@ucsd.edu, or call:
