So
now we’re a tourist destination. Who knew? Remember when
you were desperately clamoring to get off campus every chance you
could? Well, according to the January/February issue of AAA’s
Westways magazine, UCSD is one of Southern California’s campuses “designed
to encourage people to learn and think and dream,” and where
you can get “a refresher course in the joys
of learning.” The article featured the Stuart Collection’s
latest addition, artist
Tim Hawkinson’s 180-ton Bear in the Engineering Quad, as well
as Alexis Smith’s 560-foot-long snake slithering up toward
Geisel, Niki de Saint Phalle’s Sun God and Elizabeth Murray’s
Red Shoe. For more on Westways campus tours go to: http://www.aaa-calif.com/westways/.
