Mission Playground founder and UCSD alumnus Patrick Shami, M.S. ’04, agreed
to develop limited edition co-branded
T-shirts and hoodies for Rady. Shami had spent a few years consulting for McKinsey & Company and working in technology companies before helping to turn an eco-conscious clothing project into a company.
Mission Playground, founded in 2003, is a conscious lifestyle clothing line for men, women and children whose designs and messages are inspired by nature.
Each piece is produced from eco-friendly fabrics such as 100 percent organic cotton, recycled polyester, hemp, merino wool,
or blends. The company’s products can
be purchased through retail outlets such
as REI, Whole Foods Market, and over
100 others in the USA, Canada, Australia and Japan.
“
Mission Playground is committed to mutually beneficial partnerships in our local community —and working with Rady and UCSD seemed to be a natural fit,” says Patrick Shami.
