“ A mother knows her son,” says Catherine Barry, Revelle ’71, “and her son now knows his mother,” adds Jason, Warren ’94, referring to the secret behind the family’s Rancho Santa Fe-based, real estate company, Barry Estates.
The mother-son team sells more homes than any other company in San Diego, and the Wall Street Journal recently ranked the Barrys as the 5th best realestate team in the nation, running against competitors like Prudential, Coldwell Banker and RE/MAX. The pair doesn’t work alone, however; Catherine’s husband, Daniel Barry, Revelle ’71, is a company owner and broker, and their daughter Laura is another agent.
The business credits its success to the trust that underlies the family operation as well as a deep familiarity with the region’s residents and history.
Having lived in Rancho Santa Fe since 1977, the Barrys strongly advocate life in the upscale community. “If you believe in it, you can sell it,” says Jason.
He says the company also attributes its business strategy to UCSD, where the whole family learned to think, overcome and succeed.
