Double decker Sweep: Trevor Decker’s no-hitter against No. 1 Cal State Stanislaus led the 23rd-ranked Tritons to a doubleheader sweep March 14 at the Triton Baseball Field. After winning the first game 8-3, the Tritons won game two 6-0. Decker, Marshall ’09 (below), retired the final 20 batters, striking out three with 10 fly outs and seven ground outs. “Today it all came together for our four-year starter,” said head coach Dan O’Brien.
Déjà vu: : Dan Perdew, Thurgood Marshall ’10 (left), successfully defended his NCAA 100 freestyle championship crown in Houston, Tex., on March 15, when he went wire-to-wire to easily handle an elite field, and came in with an NCAA record of 43.30.
“That was my goal at the beginning of the year—to break the national record,” says Perdew. “But to actually do it, I can’t really describe how great it feels.”
Perdew finished the meet with a National Championship and a Runner-Up
finish, as well as two additional All-American honors, while leading the Tritons to a seventh-place team finish.
Going out with a Splash: At the same Houston NCAA championship meet, Kendall Bohn, Muir ’09 (left), won the 200 breaststroke in fairly comfortable fashion, clocking in at 2:15.55.
“I have to say, winning this year was more of a relief,” says the senior from Manhattan Beach. “Last year I wasn’t really expecting anything, so I was really excited. This year, I was favored and wanted pretty badly to go out on a good note.”
During her four years as a Triton, Bohn racked up three National Championships and 13 All-American honors, helping the team finish in third place three times at the NCAA Championships.
