Join us for a fun, family friendly opportunity to learn more about bees!

James Nieh, Professor of Ecology, Behavior and Evolution at UC San Diego, whose research focuses on the evolution of foraging communication and behavior in social bees, as well as honey bee health, will give us some insight into the inner workings of these busy critters.

This learning opportunity in collaboration with the San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering is all about the senses—not only will you learn about bees, you’ll probably see and hear a few buzz by during your visit to Wild Willow Farm & Education Center in South Bay San Diego. This sustainable farm and education center is home to 20 buzzing honeybee hives, which you’ll be able to take a peek at during 15-minute guided tours of the hives at 2:30 and 2:45 p.m.

Last but not least, you can taste what honey production is all about with some delectable treats featuring honey and pollen produced on-site at Wild Willow Farm.
