Have you ever watched the Winter Olympics and thought: "What's that funny game they're playing with the brooms sweeping the ice?" Have you then thought: "Gee, I'd love to give that a try!"
Join the UC San Diego Bay Area alumni community in Oakland on Saturday, January 18 for an introduction to the sport of curling. Curling is a sport that is thought to have originated in medieval Scotland in the 1500s. It's a sport in which two teams, each of four players, take turns sliding polished granite stones across the ice curling sheet toward a circular target marked on the ice. We will receive instructions on the rules and basics of curling, both off the ice and on it, followed by playing a game of curling against fellow alumni and friends.
Look forward to a fun-filled afternoon in Oakland, followed by a no-host happy hour near the ice rink. Alumni and their friends/family ages 12 and up are invited to participate in this event.
