Muir Musical Ensemble returns April 10-12, 2014 with a special production of Broadway’s musical GYPSY, A Musical Fable. Based in the 1930s and preceding the rise of burlesque, Gypsy: A Musical Fable is a big, brawling, boisterous musical that follows the dreams and aspirations of Rose with her two daughters that she raises with the hope to perform onstage. It’s a revealing look at the showbiz life and Rose pays the brutal price of her determinism. Referred to as the greatest American musical by numerous famed critics and writers (such as Ben Brantley and Frank Rich), Gypsy is sure to be a musical that will leave you speechless.
With lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, music by Jule Style, and book by Arthur Laurents, this is one musical you do not want to miss.
Show dates are Thursday, April 10, Friday, April 11 and Saturday, April 12. All shows are at 8 p.m. in the Mandeville Auditorium. Tickets are $15.
