Did you know that a UC San Diego School of Medicine alumna was at the forefront of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia? Dr. Gloria Beim, SOM ’90, was chosen to be chief medical officer for Team USA at this year’s games.
Since graduating from the UC San Diego School of Medicine Dr. Beim has also served as team physician for the U.S. Cycling Team during two previous Olympic games, acted as chief medical officer at the World University Games in 2005 and the Pan Am Games in 2011, and founded her own practice located on the western slope of the Colorado Rockies where she is as an accomplished orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery, knee surgery, arthroscopy, and sports medicine
