Alumni Leadership Scholarship
In 2004, the Alumni Association launched an additional $2 million fundraising campaign to create the Alumni Leadership Scholarship. This complementary scholarship program addresses the accessibility of education to high achieving students faced with significant financial hardship. In addition, this scholarship recognizes those who have demonstrated outstanding academic and community leadership while at UCSD.
In its first year, the Scholarship Selection Committee received 124 scholarship applications. Funds were available to support 11 worthy students with a $2,000 annual award. For the 2007 academic year, the Association received 200 applications and will fund 27 sholarships. Our goal is to fund at least 40 endowed scholarships annually.  MORE

Andrei Fodoreanu, '07 (left), migrated to the United States from Romania and was the recipient of the Violet and Matthew, '91, Lehrer Alumni Leadership Scholarship in 2006. He and Monica Wojcik (right) are now students at Harvard Medical School.
